This Investment and Collateralization Policy is authorized by the City Council in accordance with Texas Government Code, Chapter 2256, also cited as the Public Funds Investment Act, to satisfy the statutory requirements to define, adopt, and review a written investment policy regarding the investment of its funds and funds under its control. It is also written to satisfy the statutory requirements of the Public Funds Collateral Act, Chapter 2257 of the Texas Government Code. This policy has been reviewed and has received Certification of Investment Policy as issued by the Government Treasurers' Organization of Texas.

Athens Economic Development Corporation

The Athens Economic Development Corporation is a Type B Economic Corporation consisting of seven (7) board members appointed by the Athens City Council. The AEDC was authorized by voters in May of 1991 and is funded by a 1/2 cent (.005) sales tax. AEDC funds are restricted for economic and industrial development within City limits of the City of Athens.
