Residential and commercial garbage and recycling services are an essential part of keeping Athens beautiful and ensuring our local natural environment remains pristine.
Republic Waste Services provides all garbage and recycling services to residents and businesses. If you have questions about your garbage service, please call City Hall at (903) 675-5131.
All residents are provided the garbage and recycling collection services. Residents may set up garbage and recycling services at the same time they set up their water service. These services are $13.33 per residence per month.
Each resident is provided one refuse cart and one recycling cart, though an additional refuse cart may be provided at an additional cost of $1.00 per residence per month.
Commercial customers must contact Allied Waste Services directly to arrange for dumpster service.
The Community Collection Station, located at 500 Aaron Street, is open to City of Athens residents on Saturdays from 8:30 am until 3:30 p.m., excluding holiday weekends. The Collection Station accepts garbage refuse (excluding construction debris), brush and glass recycling. A valid driver’s license and Athens water bill must be presented for access to the Collection Station.
For residents who do not live in the city limits of Athens, Henderson County provides collection station services. Please click HERE for more information.
