UPDATE -- Important Utility Project

UPDATE: Because of rain in the forecast, the Utilities Department has pushed this project back one day. It is now scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 25-26. The time frames remain the same, just pushed back one day.

The Athens Utility Department will work with contractors to replace an 18-inch water valve along Flat Creek Road on Tuesday, Jan. 24, and Wednesday, Jan. 25. This large and complex project will improve the water flow.

This project will cause traffic delays from Loop 7 at Flat Creek Road east to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center starting around noon Tuesday, Jan. 24. (Photos attached)

Utility workers expect to TURN OFF THE WATER in this area at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24. The water is expected to be restored by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. Please be prepared for this water outage if you live along Flat Creek Road between Loop 7 and the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our utility service.
