APD Celebrates Officers During Women's History Month

In honor of Women's History Month, the Athens Police Department recognizes and celebrates the incredible women who serve as officers in our community. These women put their lives on the line daily to protect and serve, and their contributions are invaluable.

Despite the challenges that women face in law enforcement, these officers have proven time and time again that they are just as capable and dedicated as their male counterparts. They bring unique skills, perspectives, and experiences to the job, and their presence is essential for building stronger, more resilient communities.

We thank all female police officers who serve in Athens and beyond for their hard work and dedication. You are true heroes, and we are grateful for your service.

Athens' female officers include  Ptl. Shayla Mitchell, Ptl. Emerald Castillo, Cpl. Melissa Goss, Sgt. Brittney Lee,  and Sgt. Taylor Rice.
